Nearly 2,800 homes could be headed to fast-growing Central Texas county

A proposed master-planned community that could bring thousands of new residents to Central Texas is gaining momentum after receiving a green light from local officials.

Preliminary plans for The Ridge West at Camino Real were approved by the Hays County Commissioners on Tuesday, marking another step in the area’s rapid residential growth. The development would bring 2,784 homes to a 532-acre site along High and Great Northern roads in both Kyle and Hays County Pct. 1, according to city documents.

Plans submitted to local officials call for the project to be constructed across 30 phases. Developers have also outlined space for an amenity center, parkland, open land and a network of neighborhood streets intended to serve future residents.

On Wednesday, Walton Global announced the sale of 1,736 acres of property in Hays County to Wilson Capital & Carlton Capital Investments for the development of The Ridge, according to a news release.
