TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — The Travis County District Attorney’s Office has dismissed evidence tampering cases against former Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody and former Assistant Williamson County Attorney Jason Nassour after the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals declined to review the case, the DA’s office said.
The Court of Criminal Appeals rejected the state’s petition for discretionary review on May 14, leaving prosecutors unable to present evidence of guilt against the two men, according to the district attorney’s office.
The case stemmed from a 2019 traffic stop of Javier Ambler by Williamson County sheriff’s deputies, who were accompanied by a camera crew filming the reality show “Live PD.” Ambler died after being tased during the interaction.
