Austin officer to pay fines after pleading guilty to speeding in 2025 crash

AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin Police Department (APD) officer will have to pay fines for speeding that led to a multi-vehicle wreck in 2025, the Travis County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

APD officer Daniel Robert Kessler Jr. entered a guilty plea to two counts of speeding on Thursday following an investigation into his involvement into a wreck that happened on January 21, 2025, the DA’s office said.
