After a six-month hiatus, a Michelin-recognized Japanese and Mexican fusion hotspot will soon be making its long-awaited comeback to Texas’ capital city. Ramen del Barrio owner Christopher Krinsky told MySA he and his team are putting the finishing touches on the restaurant’s new home and first brick-and-mortar in Austin.
Krinsky is tentatively aiming to have a grand re-opening celebration for Ramen del Barrio in mid-July, as the restaurant is in the process of receiving its final city inspections over the next two weeks. In December 2025, Ramen del Barrio shuttered its first location in Austin at Hana World after the market’s owners decided not to renew the property’s lease. The ramen spot had operated in that location since 2023.
Krinsky said he learned the market would be closing at the end of year in May 2025, which left him scrambling to find a permanent home for Ramen del Barrio in six months. By August 2025, Krinsky signed a lease for a new space located at 2007 Kramer Lane, which is only about 2.5 miles from RDB’s original Hana World stomping grounds on Parmer Lane in north Austin.
Ramen del Barrio fans can expect the same and revolving food from its original menu like pozole and carnitas tonkotsus as well as mariscos, salsas and yaki-tacos. The new restaurant, which Krinsky described as “warm, wooden and comforty,” will also serve authentic Mexican and Japanese alcohol including imported beers, mezcal and whiskey-based cocktails, sake and even spiked aguas frescas.
