AUSTIN (KXAN) –The Travis County Tax Office released a list Tuesday of 20 aircraft owners with the largest delinquent property tax bills, who collectively owe nearly $2 million in unpaid taxes.
According to the tax office, the owners owe a combined $1.98 million in delinquent taxes. Some of the tax bills date back to 2021 and 2022, according to the Tax Office’s records.
Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector Celia Israel said her office compiled the list after noticing a pattern among owners of high-value aircraft who had not paid their taxes.
“When I saw that there was a number of people who, seemingly, you would think they’re well off — they can afford a plane, they can afford a hangar, but they have not yet paid the taxes that are due — to me, that speaks to an inequity, and that doesn’t make me happy,” Israel said…
