AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin City Manager T.C. Broadnax has proposed a $6.625 billion budget for fiscal year 2026-27 that increases spending on public safety, homelessness services, housing and parks while raising the city’s property tax rate and utility bills.
The proposal calls for a property tax rate of 57.953 cents per $100 of valuation, up from 52.4017 cents this year. City officials estimate the median non-senior homestead would pay about $2,248 in city property taxes annually, an increase of roughly $174, or 8.4%, from the current fiscal year.
