Heavy Rain Triggers Flood and Flash Flood Warnings Across Large Parts of Texas Including Austin, San Antonio and El Paso Counties

AUSTIN, TX — Round after round of heavy rain pushed large parts of Texas into flood and flash flood warnings Sunday. The National Weather Service said dangerous conditions were spreading across cities, suburbs and rural areas.

South-Central Texas took the brunt of it, with warnings covering major population centers including Austin and San Antonio.

Flash Floods

Flash flood warnings were posted across central, east-central and far western Texas and were set to last into early Monday. Officials warned that creeks, streams, highways, streets and underpasses could flood quickly.

In several counties, rain had already reached 2 to 4 inches, with more expected overnight.

Hard Hit Areas

Warnings stretched across Edwards, Bandera, Bexar, Kendall and Medina counties, plus parts of Gillespie County and the Austin metro area. Communities including San Antonio, Austin, Round Rock and Cedar Park were in the alert area…
