Central Texas isn’t out of the woods yet, as another round of heavy rain threatens to worsen already catastrophic flooding through Thursday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) reports Wednesday, a Flood Watch is in effect for parts of Austin, San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country, with the most significant rain battering the Uvalde area west of San Antonio. The NWS described the upcoming flooding as potentially “life-threatening,” where areas west of San Antonio could receive an additional 10-to-20 inches of rain in the hardest-hit areas. The entire Central Texas region is expected to see a minimum of 2-to-6 inches of rain.
CBS Austin meteorologist Avery Tomasco said catastrophic flooding was already unfolding around Uvalde, where storms could dump up to 10 more inches of rain Wednesday after 10 to 15 inches fell Tuesday. Nearby communities, including Del Rio and Leakey, could also see rainfall totals exceed a foot…
