AUSTIN (KXAN) — A San Marcos city council member faces an assault on a public servant charge, a third-degree felony, following a “disturbance” that happened between him and a security guard in downtown Austin over the weekend, according to an arrest affidavit.
The council member involved is Lorenzo Gonzalez, who represents Place 5. KXAN confirmed his position via his bond document, which marks his employer as the “City of San Marcos” and his position as “city council.”
Gonzalez attended Tuesday’s city council work session. KXAN tried to speak with him as council broke for executive session, but Gonzalez did not answer our questions, and he walked into an area of city hall not accessible to the public. We also asked Mayor Jane Hughson for comment outside of council chambers, but she did not respond to our questions either…
