Texas counties uncover 100,000+ delayed voter records dating back to October 2025

AUSTIN (Nexstar) — If you used the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) online portal to update your voter registration in the last year, there’s a chance county officials only recently received your request.

Due to an undisclosed error, records dating back to October 2025 were not transmitted to county election officials until this week after DPS identified an issue affecting certain online voter registration transactions.

“DPS transmits voter registration information to the Secretary of State (SOS),” DPS said in a statement. “Certain online records were incomplete and not fully transmitted. The system issue has been resolved, and DPS worked with SOS to identify incomplete records to backfill incomplete information.”…
