One dead after being hit by Manor PD patrol vehicle

MANOR, Texas (KXAN) — A Manor Police officer is on paid administrative leave after investigators said the officer’s patrol vehicle hit a pedestrian overnight.

According to the Manor Police Department, it happened at 1:04 a.m. Friday on U.S. 290 near Gregg Manor Road, in front of St. David’s Emergency Center.

Investigators said an adult man was walking in the westbound lane of U.S. 290 when he was hit by the officer’s vehicle. Officers immediately started to give the man CPR and medical aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The man has not yet been publicly identified.

Manor Police Chief Ryan Phipps told KXAN the man was possibly intoxicated. According to officers on scene, the man smelled like alcohol and alcohol was located near the crash…
