Austin airport breaks ground on Concourse M to add six gates

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin-Bergstrom International Airport broke ground on Tuesday on Concourse M, a new six-gate facility designed to help maintain passenger capacity while the airport undergoes a multibillion-dollar expansion.

Concourse M will be built on the west side of the airport and is expected to provide additional gate capacity during several major construction projects planned across the airport.

The approximately 37,000-square-foot concourse will include four contact gates and two walk-out gates capable of serving narrow-body aircraft. It will operate separately from Barbara Jordan Terminal and is intended to help the airport continue normal operations while other expansion projects move forward…
