Travis County Expunction Expo helps residents clear old criminal records

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Travis County officials organized another Expunction Expo to help prequalified Travis County residents who missed the last Expunction Expo in May clear criminal records of old arrests.

County officials said the expo would be held Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

“These cases may include instances in which someone was arrested but was never charged or indicted or, in some cases, if a criminal charge was dismissed or a person was acquitted, pardoned, or completed a diversion program. Their cases may still appear on a person’s criminal background check without an expunction,” the county said.

Officials said residents who complete the expunction process will have improved access to jobs, financial services, assistance and housing.
