At least 3 injured in water pipe explosion at construction site

TRAVIS COUNTY (KXAN) — Officials responded to a water pipe explosion that left three people injured in northeast Travis County on Tuesday.

A spokesperson with Travis County ESD No. 12 later told KXAN a water pipe exploded while the three workers were cutting the pipe.

Austin-Travis County EMS said on Facebook shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday it and Travis County STAR Flight were responding to a burn/explosion call at a construction site in the 10400 block of North FM 973 near Braker Lane. That area is south of Manor.

ATCEMS said at least three patients were reported. All of them were declared trauma alerts.

Two patients were transported to Dell Seton. One of them was transported by STAR Flight and had serious/critical injuries and the other was transported by ATCEMS and had serious injuries that are not expected to be life-threatening.

A third patient was transported to St. David’s South by ATCEMS with potentially serious injuries that are not expected to be life-threatening.
