AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department has identified the man killed in a shooting at a car club meeting in east Austin Saturday.
Police responded to reports of a shooting and that “bullets were flying” at the Fiesta parking lot, at 3909 N. Interstate 35, around 6:25 p.m. They found 20-year-old Christian Loredo with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle, according to a press release.
Medics with Austin-Travis County EMS attempted life-saving measures, but Loredo was pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m.
Police believe Loredo was at the car club meeting when a verbal conflict began between him and a group of people in another vehicle. “The verbal altercation escalated when a suspect in the group shot Loredo,” police said. The suspect immediately left the scene, according to police.
