Dirty Martin’s to remain following tweaks to Project Connect’s light rail alignment

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Dirty Martin’s Place is one of several properties no longer at risk of displacement under Project Connect’s upcoming light rail transit system, Austin Transit Partnership confirmed with KXAN Wednesday.

The organization — tasked with designing and delivering light rail in Austin — said project leaders re-evaluated station locations and traffic flow in the area before determining the project would no longer conflict with existing buildings between 27th and 29th Streets.

These properties will no longer have conflict with the light rail’s alignment:

“We have looked at ways to really focus the use of our [federal dollars] on the station areas and the urban design and maximizing the user experience of the light rail system, and minimizing the use of those dollars toward real estate acquisition and really buying land or buildings,” said Lindsay Wood, ATP’s executive vice president of engineering and construction.
