Records identify suspect in east Austin car show shooting

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Travis County arrest affidavit identified a suspect possibly involved in a shooting that happened at a car show in east Austin on Saturday, Feb. 3.

The document showed Carlos Rivera, 49, was charged with first-degree murder related to the death of 20-year-old Christian Loredo.

According to the affidavit, Austin police officers responded to a shooting hotshot call at approximately 6:25 p.m. Saturday in the 3900 block of North Interstate 35 service road, which was the same location as the Freestyle Saturday 4 th Annual Car Show.

At the scene, first responders found a man, later identified as Loredo, inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds. Loredo was pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m., according to records.

The affidavit said multiple witnesses identified Rivera as the shooter. Crime Stoppers tips also provided information that led to his arrest, according to records.
