Satire – Texas Takes a Stand Against Modern Transportation, Proposes Rubber Tire Ban

In an unexpected twist of legislative action, Texas lawmakers have proposed a bill that would see the banning of rubber tires across the state. The bill, dubbed “The Historical Transportation Act,” aims to return to the ‘good old days’ of wooden wheels and horse-drawn carriages.

State Representative Hank B. Wilder, who introduced the bill, argued, “Rubber tires have too much grip on reality. It’s time we let go and slide back into the past. Plus, horses have been out of jobs for too long.”

The bill has garnered mixed reactions from the public. Local horse enthusiast and part-time blacksmith Jeb Clippity stated, “It’s high time we brought back the romantic era of horse-drawn carriages. I’ve already started training my twelve cats to pull a wagon.”

On the flip side, professional race car driver Speedy Gonzales expressed concerns, “How am I supposed to drift on wooden wheels? This is going to ruin my career and my Instagram following.”

If passed, the bill would also introduce a new state agency, the Texas Horse and Buggy Administration (THBA), to oversee the transition. The THBA would be responsible for issuing horse licenses, regulating carriage traffic, and ensuring all horses are equipped with the latest in horseshoe technology.
