WATCH: Texas Debuts New Turnover Prop On Sidelines

Texas forced two turnovers in its 52-0 shutout victory over Colorado State at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday, leading to the debut of a new sideline prop: Texcalibur.

With three and a half minutes to go in the first half, Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi tried to find his receiver on a deep post route only to be intercepted by senior Jahdae Barron, who came out of seemingly nowhere and perfectly tracked the ball.

Upon Barron’s arrival on the sideline, Texcalibur, the first-ever turnover prop on the Texas sideline, which co-defensive coordinator Johnny Nansen ushered in from his time as the defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach at Arizona, was ready for him.

It is safe to say that Arizona fans are less than pleased at Nansen’s departure and incorporation of the turnover prop tradition he brought with him to the Forty Acres. Granted, the swords do look remarkably similar.

Feeling the unit needed improvement to contend for a national championship, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian hired Nansen this offseason to run the Longhorns’ defense alongside co-defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski.
