The Longest Living Cats of All Time

Cats, beloved for their companionship and unique personalities, occasionally defy expectations with extraordinary lifespans. While the average domestic cat lives between 12 to 18 years, some remarkable felines have achieved much longer lives, securing their places in history as symbols of longevity and resilience. You might think they truly had nine lives.

Creme Puff

Creme Puff, a domestic cat from Austin, Texas, holds the Guinness World Record as the oldest cat ever documented. Born on August 3, 1967, Creme Puff lived an incredible 38 years and 3 days, passing away on August 6, 2005. Her owner, Jake Perry, credited her long life to a unique and somewhat unconventional diet that included asparagus, broccoli, eggs, turkey bacon, and even coffee with heavy cream. Perry’s attentive care and unconventional feeding practices seemed to play a role in Creme Puff’s remarkable lifespan.

Granpa Rexs Allen

Granpa Rexs Allen, also owned by Jake Perry, lived to be 34 years and 2 months old. This Sphynx-Devon Rex mix was adopted in 1970 and quickly gained fame in his local community. Granpa Rexs Allen was recognized during his lifetime as one of the world’s oldest cats, a title later surpassed by Creme Puff. His longevity, like Creme Puff’s, was linked to Perry’s dedicated care and emphasis on a special diet.
