Austin’s Z’Tejas owner to sell Tex-Mex company, expand in future

A Central Texas-based Tex-Mex chain could be getting a new owner, which may spur a chance for expansion. Z’Tejas owner Randy Cohen is seeking to sell his share of the business, which has four restaurants in the Austin area and Arizona.

Cohen told MySA that he wants to spend more time with his family, which is what drove his decision. In the meantime, Z’Tejas co-owner and Chief Operating Officer Robby Nethercut explained the brand will continue to operate as usual. Plus, they may even seek more opportunities for potential growth in the future with a new owner.

“He would be happy to sell it to a different owner if they were interested, but if no one’s interested, we’re just going to keep going down the road with our game plan,” Nethercut said. “We have a really solid operational plan. The restaurants are doing well. We have hit our benchmarks on the operational goals that we’ve set in place for ourselves.”…
