ATHENS, Texas — Clementino Olmos Lopez, Jr., of Eustace, Texas, has been sentenced to 30 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for possession of a controlled substance. The sentence was handed down by 392nd Judicial District Court Judge Scott McKee.
On January 29, 2024, Eustace Police Chief Dan Huckabee conducted a traffic stop on Lopez’s vehicle north of FM 316 due to expired registration and lack of insurance, according to a press release from the Henderson County District Attorney’s Office. During the stop, Chief Huckabee discovered a beer in the passenger seat and, upon patting down Lopez for officer safety, found a clear crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine in Lopez’s pocket.
