National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists are warning of extreme fire conditions across the nation amid low humidity, dry conditions and strong winds. Over the weekend, hundreds of fires broke out across the Carolinas , spurring evacuations.

NWS meteorologists are also now warning people in the Austin, Texas, area of a “potentially historic” situation as red flag warnings, strong winds and low humidity combine to create an ideal situation for rapid fire spread.

In a Tuesday forecast, the NWS office servicing Austin and San Antonio warned of extreme fire weather. The conditions will persist through Tuesday night at 9 p.m.
