Elon Musk’s DOGE terminates 2 Austin-area leases

( Austin Business Journal ) — The Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk’s team of federal government cost cutters, has canceled two federal agency leases in the Austin area.

The department, known as DOGE, eliminated the lease of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement center in Austin and a Natural Resources Conservation Service building in Temple, according to the agency’s “wall of receipts.” Dozens of leases across Texas were also cut, as of March 5.

The annual lease for the ICE building was listed as $139,440 on the DOGE website. Square footage and an address were not provided, but the website noted that the agency office was closed and the move was estimated to save the federal government over $23,000…
