Possible tornadoes were reported in several states Friday into Saturday as a powerful system of storms swept across the central part of the United States on the way east, with new warnings in Mississippi and Illinois, according to forecasters.
Tornadoes were reported to have ripped down trees and power lines in Missouri, according to the National Weather Service, and NBC affiliate KSDK of St. Louis reported that businesses were damaged and tractor-trailers were overturned.
