Truck driving is one of the most critical professions because of the role it plays in local communities all over the country. Because of this, most assume that truck drivers wouldn’t drive while under the influence. Sadly, this happened recently, and multiple people passed away as a result. Naturally, the driver is facing a DUI charge, among other things, but the destruction he caused is much more significant.

According to Fox 4 News , the deadly accident involving the truck driver who decided to drive while under the influence happened on March 13th. This was around 11:30 a.m. on the southbound lanes of I-35 in north Austin, Texas. The report says that the 17 vehicles involved had come to a stop. Sadly, this is when the truck driver crashed into them. Naturally, this pushed the cars into each other, causing massive carnage.
There were multiple deaths and injuries following the accident with the truck driver. In total, there were five fatalities. This number includes an infant and a toddler. There were also eleven serious injuries following the crash and the truck driver’s alleged decision to drive while under the influence. Some of the injured drivers and passengers were pinned to vehicles. The report goes on to say that two of the injured had “very critical injuries.”
Following the crash, the police arrested the truck driver. He’s not simply facing a DUI charge. Instead, he has five counts of intoxication manslaughter as well as two counts of intoxication assault.
