Survivor struggles with guilt after deadly I-35 pileup involving 18 vehicles

AUSTIN, Texas — A truck driver who narrowly escaped the deadly 18-vehicle pileup on I-35 last week is struggling with survivor’s guilt, despite doing everything in his power to help those injured.

Kendrick, a 34-year-old concrete truck driver who asked to be identified only by his first name, was driving southbound on I-35 when he heard a loud boom behind him Thursday night.

“I heard a big boom and I looked in my rearview mirror and I saw car parts,” Kendrick told Telemundo Austin’s Azul Beltrán. “Then I saw the 18-wheeler just plowing through everybody.”…
