COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – “Draggieland” next Thursday will go on as planned following a drag ban on Texas A&M University campuses which was blocked by a federal judge on Monday.
The Texas A&M System Board of Regents passed a resolution on Friday, Feb. 28, banning on-campus drag performances on the basis that the shows did not uphold A&M values, as well as a way to piggyback off an executive order issued by President Donald Trump shortly after taking office for his second term. In turn, the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) filed a civil action lawsuit against the school system on the basis of restricting free speech.
