A common belief is that Caddo Lake is the only natural lake in the state. It turns out it’s not even really a lake. It’s technically more of a swamp, which, because of man-made dams, is slowly becoming a lake.
There are MANY natural (small) lakes in Texas
Caddo is just our biggest natural lake. According to this story at KHOU, “there are several others, but most of them are relatively small. You probably haven’t heard of them; Pretty much every lake you have heard of is man-made.”
