Bond for accused murderer Stephon Morson reduced for a second time

AUSTIN, Texas — Accused murderer Stephon Martin Morson just had his bond reduced for the second time. The Austin teenager has been in and out of jail since being arrested . Thursday’s bond reduction makes it easier for him to be freed, once again, while he awaits trial.

19-year-old Stephon Morson is accused of killing 20-year-old Keshawn Cage last October. His bond was originally set at $800,000. It dropped to $200 after the Travis County District Attorney’s Office failed to indict Morson within the required 90 days. Later, Morson’s bond increased to $100,000 after a Travis County judge ruled that the defendant could be a threat to the victim’s family and the community. On Thursday, the back and forth continued and for the second time a Travis County judge lowered Morson’s bond. This time it dropped to $30,000 on a new retaliation charge.
