Texas Severe Weather Alert: Storms Near Rio Grande Could Impact I-35 Corridor Tonight

Austin, Texas – Evening travel could be disrupted across Central and South Texas as strong storms begin forming near the Rio Grande and push eastward toward the I-35 corridor tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, a cluster of severe storms is expected to develop this evening near Del Rio and Eagle Pass, with isolated activity spreading northeast toward cities like San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Austin later tonight. Rain chances range from 20% in the eastern Hill Country to 40% near the U.S.–Mexico border.
