AUSTIN, Texas — Two Austin Police Department (APD) officers are on administrative leave after shooting a man who tried to run from a traffic stop early Wednesday morning.
APD Chief Lisa Davis said officers conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle with a woman in the driver’s seat, a man in the passenger seat and a young child in the back sometime before 3:45 a.m. in the 800 block of East Braker Lane, not far from Interstate 35.
Davis said police asked the man to get out of the vehicle and tried to pat him down, but he pulled away and reached for a weapon. Davis said officers then began firing and shot the man…
