City of Austin agrees to settlement with woman shot by police in 2021

AUSTIN, Texas — A woman who was shot by an Austin Police Officer in 2021 has reached a settlement with city of Austin.

On Thursday, the Austin City Council agreed to give Jessica Arellano $550,000, settling a lawsuit that stemmed from an incident that occurred on Jan. 5, 2021.

Arellano was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her boyfriend Alex Gonzales Jr., when police say he got into a road rage incident with an off-duty APD officer, who was driving his personal vehicle at the time…
