District attorneys in Williamson and Fort Bend counties are among the counties suing the Texas attorney general’s office over new reporting requirements that the lawsuits say compromise sensitive case information. The Travis County and El Paso County district attorneys filed a similar lawsuit May 16 against the AG’s office.
The new rules violate the separation of powers in the Texas Constitution, said Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick.
“This self-appointed accumulation of legislative, executive and judicial powers in the same person (Attorney General Ken Paxton) is dangerous, unconstitutional and ‘may justly be pronounced the very definition of ‘tyranny,'” Dick said in an emailed statement…
