$100M project to transform Austin lumberyard into waterfront housing

More than a year after a lumber and decking business relocated to Southeast Austin, its former lumberyard is poised to undergo a massive, multi-million-dollar transformation to house hundreds of Austinites.

The former Eastside Lumber & Decking location near the intersection of East Cesar Chavez Street and North Pleasant Valley Road is the site of the upcoming $100 million multifamily development project overseen by JLB Partners, a Dallas-based development company. Documents registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on Monday, June 16, outlined plans for the multi-family complex, with the development poised to construct 309 units as part of a 341,641-square-foot overall site plan.

Alongside the number of units, documents note the complex will be a “precast concrete garage wrapped by a wood framed building.” Construction is tentatively set to begin in December 2025 and wrap in late December 2027…
