Traffic Resumes on I-35 in North Austin Following Collision, Injured Individual Hospitalized

Following a collision on Interstate 35 that occurred Thursday afternoon, traffic is now flowing regularly after a temporary disruption in the North Austin area. The southbound lanes of I-35 had been closed due to the incident, which involved a truck and a sedan in a grisly embrace of metal near the Berrywood ramp. The incident took place around 4:11 p.m. in the 12000 block of the highway, as confirmed by CBS Austin.

Fire crews from the Austin Fire Department hustled to the scene, where they worked diligently to free a person trapped within the crumpled confines of their vehicle. Once extricated, the trapped individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was taken into the care of Austin-Travis County EMS. KVUE reported that one northbound lane had been closed as well as the entire southbound side during the response efforts.

The victim, described as an adult patient, was conveyed to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center with injuries severe enough to cause concern but not life-threatening, ultimately promising a reprieve from the worst possible outcome.
