Woman charged after alleged brake-checking leads to fatal crash

DEL VALLE, Texas — A woman has been charged with a second-degree felony after authorities say she allegedly brake-checked another vehicle during a road rage incident, causing a crash that left a 20-year-old man dead.

Tara Jolee Arnold, 28, faces a charge of collision involving death in connection with the June 20 crash on Highway 130 near the Tesla Gigafactory that killed Calvin Bean.

According to an arrest affidavit, Arnold’s black Toyota Corolla suddenly slammed on its brakes in front of a red Chevrolet Camaro with no objects ahead that would have required her to stop. The Camaro driver swerved to avoid a collision, causing the vehicle to spin out of control and roll over…
