Austin, Texas has had so much skyline construction over the past couple of decades, you are almost surprised there are not a network of netting spanning from building to building. When you are actually downtown in the city, you kind of lose track of how much construction is going on hundreds of feet overhead and how much faith you have in all of those Texas workers doing all of that construction.
Three times in the past four months at the same Austin high-rise, there have bee glass panels plummeting out onto the ground below, and it is really starting to sound like carelessness is to blame.
What Austin building has been shedding glass panels onto the street below?
According to this KVUE article, the ATX Tower operated by Ryan Companies has been shedding glass panels and that has nearby residents and workers double checking to make sure they are nowhere near the building when walking about downtown.
How is Ryan Companies preventing additional falling glass dangers?
Ryan Companies issued a statement saying they will perform a thorough investigation, so here is hoping the third time is the charm. I know the new Superman film opens soon, but if I am walking around Austin, I ain’t putting my faith in a caped space alien in Metropolis to save me.
Ryan Companies did say they plan to build a covered walkway to ensure pedestrian safety.
