Man arrested for aggravated assault after machete attack at NE Austin bus stop

AUSTIN, Texas — A man was arrested for aggravated assault after allegedly attacking another man with a machete near a CapMetro bus stop in northeast Austin over the weekend.

Officers responded to a disturbance call at the Murphy Gas Station at 1030 Norwood Park Boulevard on Saturday, June 28, where John Calk, 40, was identified as the suspect.

Upon arrival, officers were directed by a witness to a man matching the suspect’s description, sitting at a CapMetro bus stop. Officer Fiebig observed multiple pools of blood and two machetes on the bench, one of which had traces of blood on the blade.
