The Austin Police Department (APD) has disclosed figures from the recent Independence Day weekend, revealing a continued effort to deter and deal with the pernicious issue of impaired driving on the city’s roadways. As reported by the department, officers made a total of 39 arrests for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) between the evening of July 3 and the early hours of July 6.
Highlighting the ongoing threat posed by drunk drivers to the safety of Austin’s communities, the APD emphasizes the particular risks associated with festive periods.
