AUSTIN, Texas — Leadership for recovery efforts in Sandy Creek is changing hands once again, raising questions and concerns among volunteers and community members. The Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN) initiated recovery efforts on July 10, but 15 days later, Travis County is stepping in to manage operations at Round Mountain Baptist Church.
Harris Schanhaut, a volunteer who has been assisting for the past eight days, expressed his concerns about the transition.
“I think it just tells me there was no master plan in place beforehand for major disasters,” he said. Schanhaut also questioned the county’s preparedness, saying, “I just don’t know what resources the county has as far as training and supplies as compared to the other units.”…
