Five women from the Dallas area were killed in a fiery crash last Friday on U.S. Highway 281, just north of Austin, while traveling for what family members described as a girls trip.
The victims were identified as Thalia Salinas, Ruby Cruz, Brianna Valadez, Desiree Cervantez and Jacqueline Velazco. A memorial has since been placed near the crash site in their honor.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the women were heading southbound when a northbound truck towing a livestock trailer veered into the southbound lane.
