Animal-lovers, you may want to consider visiting or living in Texas’ Capital City. Austin was recently named one of the most pet-friendly cities in the country, and it’s pretty clear why.
Besides Austin’s variety of dog parks and pet-friendly businesses, residents recently rallied behind a local influencer to help find his stolen dog, who quite literally became the city’s most beloved pet overnight. In a new WalletHub report, Austin was ranked the 10th most pet-friendly city in the U.S., making it the only Texas city to make the top 10.
WalletHub compared the creature-friendliness of the 100 largest U.S. cities across 23 key metrics. The data set ranges from minimum pet-care provider rate per visit to the number of pet businesses per capita and walkability.
With a total score of 56.68, Austin had a high pet health and wellness rank (8) and a pet budget rank of 34. The city also had an outdoor pet-friendliness rank of 65, as it’s home to several popular dog parks including Red Bud Isle, Barking Springs (Barton Creek Spillway), Onion Creek Greenbelt and more…
