One of Texas’ oldest dancehalls is calling it quits after 121 years

The Coupland Dancehall, about 30 miles northeast of Austin, is old. Opened in 1904, the legendary honky-tonk is older than five U.S. states, has stood through the administration of 21 different presidents, two World Wars, and several different civil rights movements. But after all of that, it’s finally last call.

On Monday, Coupland announced that it would be closing its doors on Oct. 11 in a short and to-the-point Facebook post.

“It’s the end of an ERA, or two or three…After decades of boots, beer, heartbreak, and hell-raising, Coupland Dancehall is calling it ‘Last Call,'” Coupland’s post reads…
