MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman has spent his entire 29-year policing career with the Milwaukee Police Department, during which he has often expressed his admiration and pride for the city.
But in 2024, he nearly departed for Austin, Texas to hold the same position, finishing as a runner-up to former Cincinnati chief Lisa Davis.
“I was presented an opportunity. I said, ‘I’ll be interested to look and see what this opportunity was.’, and to be honest, I get presented opportunities a lot.” said Norman when asked by WTMJ about the decision to pursue the Austin job during a Milwaukee Press Club Newsmaker Luncheon Tuesday. “It’s almost like shopping [when] you’re not hungry, you make better choices.”…
