AUSTIN, Texas — Newly obtained court documents detail chilling new information about the August 11 fatal shooting at a North Austin Target parking lot, including the suspect’s own confession that he shot and killed a man and a 4-year-old girl “because [he’s] Jesus.”
According to the affidavit obtained by CBS Austin, Austin Police say 32-year-old Ethan Nieneker carried out a deadly, unprovoked attack in the Target parking lot at 8601 Research Blvd., killing 24-year-old Hector Martinez-Machuca, 65-year-old Adam Chow, and Chow’s 4-year-old granddaughter.
Investigators say Target security video shows Martinez-Machuca, a store employee, collecting shopping carts around 2:14 p.m. when Nieneker approached from behind.
