Central Texas schools start the new year with a new cell phone ban

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas students will no longer be allowed to use cellphones or other personal devices during the school day because of a new Texas law.

“I think everybody wants kids to put electronics away. It’s time to get back to learning,” said Dr. Michael A. Cardona, Superintendent of San Marcos Independent School District.
