Dozens of Texas jobs eliminated after plant closure in Wimberley

Two Texas companies plan to lay off dozens of employees in the coming weeks – the latest in a wave of layoffs as the labor market nationwide experiences a slump.

San Antonio-based TechWerks LLC is cutting 87 positions due to a cancelled contract, according to reports filed under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. The layoffs will take place on September 15.

The veteran-owned business, which offers IT services, eliminated the positions after its subcontract was canceled by security company Peraton. TechWerks cited “unforeseeable business circumstances” as the reason behind the layoffs…
