Hoax bomb suspect served a year in jail on other charges

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man accused of placing a hoax bomb in a downtown Austin alley in 2023 was sentenced the following year on charges stemming from his arrest.

The Austin Police Department bomb squad responded to a suspicious item in a bag found in an alley between San Jacinto Boulevard and Brazos Street on June 25, 2023.

Timothy Johnson pleaded guilty to fraudulent use or possession of identifying information and evading arrest with a prior conviction charges. He was sentenced to a year in prison for each charge in May 2024, with the sentences running concurrently. He was also given credit for the 311 days he spent in jail…
