AUSTIN, Texas — Austin drivers have seen more roundabouts on city streets in recent years as transportation officials continue efforts to improve traffic safety and efficiency.
The Austin Transportation and Public Works Department (TPW) said the city currently has 47 roundabouts, with two more planned for construction next year. Officials say the circular intersections help reduce severe and deadly crashes, particularly T-bone collisions, while also improving the flow of traffic for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
